My sincerest apologies to everyone who has missed my delightful blogging on Jack's Year. To all those who checked back and were disappointed time and again, I apologize to all three of you.
So things are not going great. As you read this you are no doubt thinking, no surprise. I'm not shocked either. I have discussed what my main problems are, though.
Mentality. I used to think that I could only go out to eat maybe once or twice a month. That thought process has become corrupted to the point where I convince myself that it's cheaper and healthier to go out anyway. PS: It's not at all.
I actually had this discussion with myself while looking at a Chile's menu:
"Wow, a steak for $8.99; that's a bargain right there!" Of course we all eat for less than that all the time. This was after the appetizer that completely filled me, too. But I wasn't finished convincing myself yet. "The New York Strip is only $14.99, and as long as I'm getting the steak anyway, I should get the good one..."
It's a ridiculous way to not only gain weight, but to also lose money simultaneously. If that's something you're actually trying to do on purpose then you're a powerful Hollywood icon and I would like some of your money. I decided that what I need is the high school mentality of "every penny I spend hurts my soul."
I also eat carbs through the roof. I have cereal or toast every morning, a sandwich, burger or scone for lunch, and always have rolls/bread/fried breaded bread for dinner. I don't eat fruits or vegetables. I go through phases when I'll buy baby carrots and eat a bag every day for two weeks and then eat burgers until I can't feel feelings anymore.
So my questions for this week include what people eat that is low carb or pro-vegetable. I can hardly think of any meal ideas that don't involve meat, potatoes and bread, so if you faithful readers and fans out there can help me with that, it would be much appreciated.

As for veggie ideas,
I just cut up a bunch of peppers, cucumbers, carrots and celery and put them in a Tupperware container. Then, if I get hungry or need a snack, I just eat those. Sometimes I put almond butter on my celery. I like to eat the "sweet" veggies so i feel like i'm cheating, even if I'm not.
Cheese is good. eggs too. And meat, especially chicken and fish. You can also eat nuts for the most part.
Hey Man! It's your year! you can do it!
Dearest Jack,
You should try soy. Soy is the most versatile ingredient that I have ever seen. Soy cheese, soy yogurt (I don't recommend this but just wanted to let you know the diversity of soy), soy meat, tofu (if cooked right, it won't taste like slime), etc.

Check out that site. It might help with some recipes. You can even get soy burgers?! It's crazy. But proven to be good for you. It's well worth the try.
Avec amour,
Justine
